Circuit

Automotodrom Slovakia Ring is a motor racing circuit at Orechova Poton in the Dunajska Streda District of south-western Slovakia, about 30 km from Bratislava Airport near the Hungarian and Austrian borders. Built between 2008 and 2009 to a design by Austrian architect Hans Roth, it opened in October 2009 to give Slovakia's growing automotive industry a purpose-built test and racing facility. The main Grand Prix circuit is 5.922 km long with 14 turns, making it one of the longest permanent tracks in Europe, and a largely triangular outer course encloses infield loops that can be combined into numerous shorter variations. High speeds and four artificially created elevations define its character, including a prominent hump that has sent some cars airborne. The circuit quickly attracted international competition, hosting the FIA GT3 European Championship from 2011 and the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2012. It served as a regular fixture for the World Touring Car Championship and its WTCR successor between 2012 and 2020, and has welcomed Blancpain and ADAC GT Masters fields. Since 2017 the FIA European Truck Racing Championship has been an annual visitor, and the Grand Prix of Slovakia remains its headline spectator event. A chicane was added for 2018 to preserve the circuit's FIA Grade 2 certification.
