The São Paulo Street Circuit is a temporary street course laid out around the Anhembi Sambadrome in the Santana district of São Paulo, Brazil, an area better known for its colourful samba carnival parades. The circuit makes use of the Sambadrome's grandstands and concrete runway, transitioning onto the surrounding city streets. Its first incarnation, designed by Tony Cotman, hosted the São Paulo Indy 300 in the IndyCar Series from 2010 to 2013 over an 11-turn, 4.081 km layout that was notably long for a street circuit and featured a near-mile-long back straight. The IndyCar races were frequently disrupted by rain and low grip on the dusty Sambadrome concrete, with Will Power winning three years in a row. After IndyCar departed the streets fell silent until Formula E signed a five-year deal in 2022. A much-modified and shortened course was created for the Gen3 era, sharing little with the original beyond the Sambadrome and part of the Reta de Marte run in the opposite direction. The reconfigured track hosted the first Brazilian round of Formula E in March 2023, a slipstreaming thriller with a record eleven lead changes won by Jaguar's Mitch Evans. The Formula E layout features three long straights, including the longest in the championship.
