Circuit

Putnam Park Road Course is a permanent club racing circuit set among 202 rolling acres at Mount Meridian, just west of Indianapolis, Indiana. It was created by Richard L. Diasio, a leading figure in the Indianapolis Porsche car club, who struggled to secure track dates at Indianapolis Raceway Park in the early 1990s and decided to fund his own solution for amateur and club racers. The circuit opened in 1991, with its memorable inaugural event held in October that year being nearly washed out before the founder's sons saved the day by laying plywood across the muddy, unpaved paddock. Diasio designed the roughly 1.78-mile, 10-turn course to be safe, fast and challenging, and deliberately laid it out so the entire track can be seen from the pits, keeping crews and spectators part of the action. A short-course variation using the final portion of the lap creates a flat, modified tri-oval, and several alternate lines through the Times Square complex and a loop section provide further configurations. The layout was revised in 1997 into its current form. The venue continues to host testing and club events with regular visits from 10/10ths Motorsports, the Midwest Cafe Racing Association, the SCCA, regional Porsche clubs and the Hoosier BMW Car Club. Most events are open to the public and often free of charge, although member-only track days are not open to spectators.
