Hill Climb
Prescott Speed Hill Climb sits in the Gloucestershire countryside north of Cheltenham and has been owned and run by the Bugatti Owners' Club since the club bought the Prescott estate from the Ellenborough family in 1937, holding its first informal meeting there in April 1938. Competition paused through the Second World War from late 1939 and resumed in 1946. The original 880-yard course, which follows the old driveway up from Gretton Road towards Prescott House, remains in use as the Short Course favoured by the Vintage Sports-Car Club, while a 1960 extension created the 1,127-yard Long Course used for most modern meetings. The climb gains over 200 feet through a sequence of demanding corners, among them Orchard, the Ettore's Bend loop, the tight Pardon hairpin and the closing Esses, and has staged rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship since 1947, with Stirling Moss among the drivers to have started his career on the hill. The outright course record of 34.60 seconds was set by Matthew Ryder in a Judd-powered Gould single-seater at the August 2024 British Hillclimb Championship meeting; the Bugatti Owners' Club's own report of that run is the most recent confirmation found, and the record has not been independently reconfirmed since. Prescott's calendar mixes British Hillclimb Championship rounds, vintage gatherings such as the VSCC Long Course meeting, and themed festivals including Rallye Prescott and La Vie en Bleu.
