Circuit

Motorsport Arena Oschersleben sits on the eastern outskirts of the town of Oschersleben, around 20 miles south-west of Magdeburg in central Germany. Built on what had been a maize field in a quiet agricultural area, the circuit broke ground in 1995 and opened on 25 July 1997 as the Motopark Oschersleben. It became the third permanent race circuit in Germany after the Nurburgring and Hockenheimring, and the first such facility in the former East Germany. Marketed as a purpose-built arena, its spectator areas sit several metres above the track to give close, panoramic views across the largely flat, fast layout. New ownership renamed it the Motorsport Arena in 2005 and reprofiled the first turn in 2007, adding a slow 90-degree section that proved controversial for triggering frequent first-corner incidents, while the original turn one was retained for motorcycle racing. Over the years the circuit hosted significant international events including the FIA GT Championship, the Superbike World Championship, the World Touring Car Championship and the Sidecar World Championship. Its headline event has long been the DTM, which has appeared in several spells, alongside the ADAC GT Masters and IDM Superbikes at national level. Beyond racing, the venue is busy for around 280 days a year with testing, driver training and other events. Its smooth, flowing contours and the demanding Triple Curves make it a popular venue for both four- and two-wheeled competition.
