Circuit
Oliver's Mount is England's only natural-terrain road racing circuit, laid out on a wooded hillside above Scarborough in North Yorkshire a few minutes from the seafront. The Scarborough and District Motor Club had sought a road-racing venue from the mid-1930s, and a shorter course around the hill opened to a crowd of more than twelve thousand in September 1946. The narrow, undulating public-road circuit climbs and drops through a sequence of hairpins, fast straights and jumps that have drawn comparisons to a miniature Isle of Man TT, and many of its corners carry the names of riders who shaped its history, including Drury's Hairpin, Sheene's Rise and Jefferies Jump. Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Barry Sheene and Giacomo Agostini are among the racers who have lapped the hill, and it is still regarded as useful preparation for the TT. The circuit sits on land leased from the local council — now North Yorkshire Council following the 2023 reorganisation of local government — with day-to-day racing run by Oliver's Mount Racing Ltd. The venue has weathered setbacks including a fatal accident in 2017 and paddock-building safety concerns raised in 2021, and continues to stage motorcycle road racing, supermoto and hillclimb events each season, with its headline Gold Cup meeting returning in 2026.
Operated by: Scarborough Motor Club
