Circuit
Nyirád Racing Center is Hungary's premier rallycross venue, set in the village of Nyirád in Veszprém County in the country's west. The facility opened in 2006 on the site of a former bauxite quarry, whose distinctive red clay earned the circuit its nickname, "The Red Cauldron." Its bowl-like setting gives spectators wide sightlines and lends the place a famously intense atmosphere. The 1.29 km rallycross course mixes tarmac and loose surfaces in the rallycross tradition, alternating grippy asphalt sections with gravel and clay that reward car control and aggressive starts; a shorter 1.04 km configuration serves autocross. The track carries FIA Grade 6R and 6A homologations. Nyirád hosted the Hungarian round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship between 2006 and 2013, then returned to the international calendar as the season-opening round from 2022. In 2024 it staged Hungary's first FIA World Rallycross Championship event, running World RX and Euro RX together. Alongside its FIA dates it remains a cornerstone of the Hungarian national rallycross and autocross championships and hosts amateur competition.
