Circuit

The Naval Base Coronado Street Circuit, also known as the Coronado Street Course, is a temporary street circuit laid out on the roads of Naval Air Station North Island within Naval Base Coronado, across the bay from downtown San Diego, California. It is notable as a purpose-designed street circuit set inside an active United States military installation, with grandstands and barriers built against a backdrop of aircraft hangars, flight lines and naval vessels. Racing at North Island dates back to the Coronado Speed Festival, run by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association from the late 1990s on a short 1.7-mile airfield course before mounting financial losses ended the event in 2016. The Global MX-5 Cup visited in 2012 and 2013 and Robby Gordon's Stadium Super Trucks appeared in 2014, but the base then fell quiet for racing for nearly a decade. In July 2025 NASCAR announced it would bring a three-series weekend to the base in June 2026, replacing the Chicago Street Race and timed to coincide with the U.S. Navy's 250th anniversary. A longer, more structured 3.4-mile layout was developed to the east of the runways for the national touring package, and was revealed in October 2025 as a set of deliberately styled 'declassified drawings'. The headline event is the NASCAR Cup Series' Anduril 250 Race the Base, supported by the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, with the circuit billed as the longest course on NASCAR's 2026 schedule. Corner names such as Carrier Corner, Runway Road and the Coronado Chicane tie the lap to the base's heritage and waterfront setting.
