Circuit
Circuito Monteblanco is a Spanish motorsport venue in the province of Huelva, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, close to the A-49 motorway linking Seville with the Portuguese border. Ground was broken in 2005 and the circuit opened in 2006, conceived as a multi-purpose facility for professional racing, manufacturer testing and driver-training programmes. Its grand prix configuration runs to roughly 4.4 km and features 18 turns, a long main straight of around 960 metres and a deliberately varied mix of fast, medium and slow corners. The design is unusually flexible, with the layout able to be reconfigured into numerous combinations and even split into two independent tracks served by separate pit lanes. Generous asphalt run-off and gravel beds, together with an internal wet-handling area, support its emphasis on testing and safety. The circuit holds a high FIA grading, allowing it to host most categories below Formula One, and in 2019 it staged a round of the autonomous Roborace series. Track days, private testing and industry events account for a large share of its annual use alongside competitive racing.
The full grand prix configuration combines a long main straight of around 960 metres with a varied sequence of fast, medium and slow corners, holding a high FIA grading suitable for most categories below Formula One. The wider complex can be reconfigured into numerous variants and even divided into two independent tracks.
