Circuit
Mondello Park is Ireland's premier permanent motorsport venue, set on roughly 110 acres near the village of Caragh, outside Naas in County Kildare and about 45 minutes from Dublin. The circuit opened in May 1968 as the country's first and only purpose-built racing facility, and it has since grown to offer several tarmac road-course layouts ranging from a short national track to a full international circuit of around 3.6 km. Alongside its asphalt road racing, Mondello Park runs a dedicated rallycross configuration that stitches together sealed sections of the existing tarmac circuit with unsealed, loose-surface stretches of gravel and dirt. This mixed-surface layout produces the short, flat-out sprint racing and close, unpredictable wheel-to-wheel battles that define rallycross. The venue is the long-standing home of the Irish Rallycross Championship, which returned to Mondello in 2015 and fields a broad spread of classes, and it has also staged international rallycross including FIA European Rallycross rounds and Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship events. Owned by the Birrane family since the mid-1980s and granted FIA international status in 2001, Mondello Park remains the focal point of circuit motorsport on the island of Ireland.
