Mantorp Park is one of Sweden's most developed motorsport facilities, situated near the town of Mantorp in Mjolby Municipality, Ostergotland, directly alongside the E4 motorway between Linkoping and Jonkoping. It was built in 1969 with financial backing from BP Sweden as a combined permanent road course and drag strip, the long main straight doubling as the dragstrip. The original 4.098 km circuit was designed by Lars Olof Larsson with input from Joakim Bonnier and opened to international racing in 1971, when Ronnie Peterson won the European Formula Two round. Formula Two, the European Touring Car Championship and European Formula Three all visited during the 1970s before financial troubles brought near-closure, and a 1981 rebuild produced shorter layouts and a chicane onto the dragstrip straight that briefly lured Formula Two back. The venue is capable of four configurations, but today only the long and short circuits are used, the long course measuring about 3.106 km with 13 turns. It was also the first European drag-racing circuit to adopt the NHRA's 1,000-foot format in 2008. Modern headline events include STCC TCR Scandinavia, Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia and the popular Gatebil track-day weekends featuring time attack and drifting.
