Circuit
Mallory Park is a compact motor circuit on the former Kirkby Hall estate at Kirkby Mallory in Leicestershire, built around a grass oval that had hosted pony-trekking and informal motor sport from the late 1940s. Clive Wormleighton acquired the estate and laid a permanent tarmac course around the oval, and the circuit opened to racing on 26 April 1956, with Grand Prix driver Bob Gerard completing the first laps — the name later given to the opening corner. Under Grovewood Securities the track built a reputation hosting Formula 2, Formula 3 and non-championship Formula One fields, while riders including Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood and Barry Sheene competed there on two wheels, and its small scale earned it the long-standing nickname 'the friendly circuit'. Its short, flowing lap combines the fast sweep of Gerard's Curve with Shaw's Hairpin, one of the tightest corners on any British circuit, and chicanes have been added to the motorcycle configuration over the years to moderate speeds. A protracted noise dispute put the operating company into administration in 2013 and closed the venue temporarily; new management reopened it in 2014 and has since restored a full calendar of club racing, track days and testing. Mallory Park's 2026 calendar, run by Real Motorsport, includes ARDS driving tests, track-day bookings and its traditional Boxing Day 'Plum Pudding' race meeting.
