Circuit

Madring, officially the Madrid circuit, is a planned street and part-permanent circuit being built around the IFEMA exhibition centre in the Valdebebas/Barajas area of Madrid, Spain. It is set to host the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 as part of a deal announced by Formula One in January 2024 that runs through 2035, displacing the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya which had held the race since 1991. The project is centred on the government-affiliated IFEMA venue and was driven in part by the site's proximity to central Madrid and good transport and airport access. The layout was designed by Jarno Zaffelli, with a projected length of about 5.416 km and 22 corners, a figure revised from an originally announced 20. The course is planned to mix fast sections, such as the so-called Valdebebas linked corners, with technical sequences, and notable features include a banked turn known as the Monumental, billed as the longest banked curve in Formula One, and two tunnel sections running beneath an elevated motorway. It is also expected to include the first covered paddock in Formula One. As well as the Spanish Grand Prix, the venue is intended to host Formula 2 and Formula 3 support races. The circuit will continue Madrid's Formula One heritage, the last world championship Spanish Grand Prix in the city having been held at the nearby Jarama circuit in 1981. As the circuit is still under construction, its final layout remains subject to approval and confirmation.
