Circuit
The Circuit de Lohéac is a rallycross venue in the Breton village of Lohéac, in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of north-western France, south of Rennes. Widely regarded as the birthplace of French rallycross, it was established by Michel Hommell, founder of the Michel Hommell motoring-publishing group, and staged France's inaugural rallycross meeting on 5 September 1976, an event that drew well over 10,000 spectators and far exceeded expectations. The compact circuit runs to roughly 1.07 km over seven turns and is built around the discipline's signature mixed surface, pairing long asphalt sections with looser gravel and dirt. Since that first 1976 race it has hosted a round of the French Rallycross Championship every year, and it staged the FIA World Rallycross Championship's French round from the series' debut in 2014 through 2019, returning for a further appearance in 2021, alongside FIA European Rallycross fixtures. The meeting has grown into one of the country's biggest motorsport draws: the 2018 edition attracted more than 80,000 spectators, ranking it the third best-attended motor-racing event in France behind the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the French Grand Prix. The circuit shares its site with the Manoir de l'Automobile motor museum.
