The Jakarta International e-Prix Circuit was built to host Indonesia's round of the FIA Formula E World Championship, the Jakarta ePrix. Unusually for the series it is a purpose-built permanent venue, though its layout was designed to mimic the street-circuit feel of Formula E's city races. Located at Ancol Beach in North Jakarta, the track was constructed at remarkable speed on reclaimed swamp land, ready just a week before its inaugural race in July 2022. The roughly 2.37-kilometre, 18-turn lap was shaped to resemble a Kuda Lumping, a flat bamboo horse used in traditional Javanese dance, and combined a long start-finish straight with technical sequences and undulating, bumpy sections. Drivers praised the layout after the first event, won by Mitch Evans in a dramatic, closely fought race decided by energy management in searing heat. The circuit's development was intended to leave a lasting legacy for the Ancol district and support Jakarta's post-pandemic tourism. It remained a recurring stop on the Formula E calendar following its debut.
