Circuit
Inje Speedium is a permanent road course set high in the mountains of South Korea's Gangwon (Kangwon-do) region, roughly 160 km north-east of Seoul and about two and a half hours' drive from the capital's airport. Opened in May 2013, it forms the centrepiece of the Inje Auto Theme Park, a larger leisure complex that also includes a separate kart arena, a 134-room hotel and a condominium block. The circuit was designed by Wilson Sahara Motorsports, the firm behind Miller Motorsport Park in the United States, and makes dramatic use of its setting with significant elevation changes amid striking mountain scenery. Its outline is often likened to the shape of a sea horse, with a sequence of challenging corners that have helped it earn a reputation as one of the more exciting venues in the region. The full course can be split into shorter North and South configurations to suit different events. Internationally it appeared on the Asian Le Mans Series calendar in its early seasons and was later lined up to host the FIA World Touring Car Cup. The venue is rated to FIA Grade 2 standard and remains an active fixture in Korean and regional motorsport. Its combination of altitude, gradient and scenery sets it apart from Korea's other circuits.
