Hill Climb
Gorjanci is a hillclimb course set in the wooded Gorjanci hills above Novo Mesto in the Lower Carniola region of south-eastern Slovenia. The roughly 4.3-kilometre closed public-road climb is run on tarmac of noticeably mixed quality, a trait that complicates car setup and has become one of the circuit's signature talking points. Rather than a steep, high-gradient ascent, the course strings together flowing, blind curves with only a modest difference in altitude between start and finish, rewarding commitment over outright climbing power. Organised by AMD Novo Mesto, the event has long featured on the FIA International Hill Climb Cup and the FIA Historic European Hill Climb calendars, and it also serves as a round of Slovenian national hillclimbing. The central paddock is unusual for the discipline, sitting beside a restaurant and a small amusement park. Course safety was upgraded ahead of 2018 with additional guardrails through the lower section. Standing records include Patrik Zajelsnik (CAT 2, 1:33.086, 2019) and Karl Schagerl (CAT 1, 1:44.687, 2023).
