Circuit
The Autodromo di Franciacorta is a modern circuit at Castrezzato, near Brescia in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, built in a wine-growing area on the site of a former quarry. It grew from the vision of local building contractor Ettore Bonara, who leased the land from the municipality and opened a short 1.4 km first phase in 2005, extending it to a full-length course at the end of 2007. Racing on the extended layout began in 2008, and the venue's highest-profile event was a round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup in 2010. Financial difficulties followed the death of a key investor and a tax-authority closure in 2015, but the circuit survived through bankruptcy proceedings and continued operating. In 2018 a bypass of turn 6 created additional layout variants, with and without the 6-7-8 chicane. In November 2019 Porsche acquired the circuit, reopening it in September 2021 as the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta, the brand's first such facility in Italy. The current Grand Prix configuration measures 2.519 km with 13 turns. Alongside Porsche driving programmes the site retains a low-friction handling course and an off-road track, and it continues to host motorsport including the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia as part of a Porsche Festival.
