EchoPark Speedway, located in Hampton, Georgia about 30 miles south of Atlanta, is the renamed Atlanta Motor Speedway, which adopted its current title in June 2025 under a seven-year sponsorship deal with the Smith family's EchoPark Automotive business. The venue opened in 1960 as Atlanta International Raceway and spent its early decades struggling financially, at one point entering bankruptcy, while hosting staple NASCAR races and a run of IndyCar events. Its fortunes turned when Bruton Smith's Speedway Motorsports bought the track in 1990 and renamed it Atlanta Motor Speedway, launching a sustained programme of grandstand, suite and facility expansion. In 1997 the start/finish line was moved and two doglegs added to the front stretch, reconfiguring the circuit into a 1.54-mile quad-oval and making it one of NASCAR's fastest tracks. A far more dramatic change came in 2022, when the surface was repaved and the banking reprofiled from 24 to 28 degrees in the turns, the steepest of any intermediate oval in NASCAR, while the racing surface was narrowed. The new high banks and narrower width were designed to create the pack racing usually seen at superspeedways such as Daytona and Talladega, and NASCAR introduced superspeedway-specification cars for the venue. The facility hosts two annual Cup weekends supported by the Xfinity and Truck Series. It has also weathered notable weather events, including a 2005 tornado that was repaired in time for that autumn's race.
