RAF Spilsby was a former Royal Air Force station during the Second World War and Cold War, located in the rural village of Great Steeping near Spilsby, Lincolnshire. Built between 1942-1943 after the Air Ministry relocated plans from Gunby Hall following an appeal by Field Marshal Sir Archibald Montgomery-Massingberd to King George VI. The airfield opened for action on 20 September 1943 as an overflow satellite airfield to RAF East Kirkby in 5 (Bomber) Group RAF. No. 207 Squadron RAF was the first operational squadron based at Spilsby, moving from RAF Langar on 12 October 1943.
