Hill Climb
The Coppa Paolino Teodori is a speed hillclimb run on the wooded slopes of Colle San Marco, just south of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region of Italy. First staged in 1962 and organised by the Automobile Club Ascoli Piceno-Fermo with the Gruppo Sportivo AC Ascoli, it has grown into one of the most prestigious mountain races in the country. Cars tackle the climb twice in timed runs, threading a sequence of technical bends before the road opens out into faster sweeps near the top. The modern course measures roughly five kilometres, rising from the Colle San Marco plateau toward San Giacomo, though earlier editions used a longer profile climbing out of Ascoli Piceno itself. The event is a fixture of the Italian Hill Climb Championship (CIVM) and the premier Italian Super Salita title, and it has repeatedly carried FIA European Hill Climb Championship status, drawing leading specialists and large entries. Recent fields have topped two hundred drivers, with Italian hillclimb stars such as Christian Merli and Simone Faggioli among the headline contenders.
