Circuit
The Circuito Caca Bueno is a temporary racing course laid out at Tom Jobim International Airport, better known as RIOGaleao, on Ilha do Governador in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro. It marked the return of top-level Brazilian motorsport to Rio when the Stock Car Pro Series raced there for the first time in 2022, the first such event in the city since 2012 and the demolition of the Jacarepagua circuit. The layout is notable as the first use of a commercial airport's runway for motor racing in Brazil, formed on a portion of the airport's northern runway. It was designed by engineer Luis Ernesto Morales of the Brazilian Automobile Confederation, who drew inspiration from Cleveland's Burke Lakefront airport course and from the fast outer-ring layouts of Brazilian tracks such as Goiania and Curitiba. At about 3.225 kilometres and up to 24 metres wide across most of its length, it is a high-speed circuit on which Stock Cars are expected to reach around 260 km/h using push-to-pass, with a major overtaking zone under heavy braking into Turn Four. The circuit is officially named after Caca Bueno, the Rio-born five-time Stock Car champion who campaigned to bring racing back to the city, and its corners honour six historic Rio venues including Jacarepagua, the Gavea Complex and Petropolis. Building it required special glued-down metal kerbs, around 200 concrete blocks for retaining walls and tyre barriers made from thousands of tyres. The inaugural GP Galeao took place on 9 and 10 April 2022.
A fast, wide temporary course on the northern runway of Galeao airport, with a long high-speed section between Turns 1 and 4 and a tighter chicane at Turns 6 and 7.
