Circuit

The Circuit Ricardo Tormo, formally the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, sits at Cheste, about 20 km west of Valencia in eastern Spain. It was built by the regional government and opened in September 1999 to serve as the hub of the local motorsport industry and a training base for young Spanish riders and drivers. The track is famous for its stadium-style design, a compact permanent circuit set within banked grandstands so that almost the entire lap is visible from a single seat, giving it the feel of a racing theatre. The Grand Prix configuration runs anticlockwise over roughly 4.0 km with 14 turns, comprising a cluster of slow and medium-speed corners linked by a main straight of around 650 to 880 metres. With five right-handers and eight left-handers, it places a premium on traction and braking rather than outright top speed. It is best known as a MotoGP and World Superbike venue, traditionally hosting the season-closing Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix, and has also staged GP2, DTM, WTCC and World Series by Renault events. Its mild winter climate has long made it a popular Formula One pre-season testing venue, and it has more recently been used for Formula E testing and a 2021 race on a modified layout. Shorter National and School configurations branch from the main circuit for club racing and training. The venue holds FIA Grade 2 certification and offers extensive grandstand capacity around the bowl.
