Circuit
Cadwell Park is a motor-racing circuit in the Lincolnshire Wolds, about 8 km south of Louth, England. It was established in 1934 by Mansfield Wilkinson of Louth, whose sons were among the first to race motorcycles on the land, and the circuit was given a tarmac and concrete surface in 1938. The track was lengthened in 1953 and again in 1961 — when the Donington Curve was added — reaching the layout still used today, and the British Formula 3 championship raced there the following year. MotorSport Vision, the group linked to former driver Jonathan Palmer, has owned and operated Cadwell Park since acquiring it from Octagon in January 2004. Its full circuit is 3.502 km (2.176 miles) with 18 turns for cars, with a slightly longer, 19-turn version used for motorcycle racing; shorter configurations include the Club Circuit and the Woodlands Circuit. Severe changes in gradient, including a section known as the Mountain where bikes become briefly airborne, have earned the circuit the nickname "the Mini-Nürburgring." The British Superbike Championship's August round is traditionally the circuit's biggest event of the year, and Cadwell Park also hosts historic and club racing, including meetings for the Vintage Sports Car Club, BARC, HSCC and the 750 Motor Club. The circuit has featured in motoring television including Fifth Gear and Top Gear, and racing scenes for the 2013 film Rush were filmed there.
