Circuit
The Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex is a 96-hectare, multi-track motorsport park near the town of Broadford, roughly 88 kilometres north of Melbourne in central Victoria, just off the Hume Freeway. Opened in 1975, it is run as a dedicated home for two-wheeled sport and is one of the most comprehensive motorcycle facilities in Australia. Within its grounds sit eight different tracks, including the sealed road racing circuit in Reg Hunt Park, a 400-metre speedway oval, a 120-metre junior speedway and a motocross course. The road circuit itself measures 2.16 kilometres, is ten metres wide and winds through 12 corners. Because of planning restrictions tied to its motorcycle focus, four-wheeled car testing is limited to motorcycle-engined vehicles. The venue has hosted the Victorian Individual Speedway Championship on five occasions and remains a busy hub for club road racing, motocross and track days. It is owned and managed by Motorcycling Victoria, which in 2014 leased part of the unused land to a target-shooting club. The complex is best known today as the host of the annual Island Classic-linked historic gatherings and grassroots motorcycle competition.
