Drag Strip
Bristol Dragway is a quarter-mile drag strip located in Bristol, Tennessee, adjacent to the Bristol Motor Speedway oval. The facility was originally built in 1965 and is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports. Nestled between two mountains, the strip is widely nicknamed 'Thunder Valley' for the way the surrounding terrain amplifies the sound of the cars. Its racing surface is concrete and the standard track measures a quarter mile, roughly 3,800 feet end to end including shutdown area. The venue seats around 30,000 spectators. Bristol hosts a round of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, drawing the sport's nitro Top Fuel and Funny Car classes alongside Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Track records here include Top Fuel runs into the 3.6-second range at well over 330 mph.
