Hill Climb
Bouley Bay Hill Climb is a venerable speed-hillclimb venue on the north coast of Jersey, run since the early 1920s by the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club, which was founded to stage it. The roughly 0.9-mile (about 1,011-yard) course climbs the steep, twisting lane of Les Charrieres du Boulay inland from the sandy cove of Bouley Bay, threading a sequence of blind, high-banked and tree-lined bends and tight hairpins as it rises toward the top. Cars and motorcycles compete against the clock. Since 1947 the hill has hosted a round, and more recently two rounds, of the British Hill Climb Championship, with mainland competitors travelling out for a Channel Islands double-header alongside Guernsey's Val des Terres. The club typically runs four open meetings a year at Easter, Liberation Day, the National championship weekend in July and the August Bank Holiday. The outright course record of 37.60 seconds was set by Wallace Menzies in 2013.
