Circuit

Blyton Park Driving Centre is a permanent tarmac circuit set on a former Lincolnshire airfield near the village of Blyton, north of Gainsborough. The site opened on 20 April 1942 as RAF Blyton and was home to thousands of service personnel during the Second World War. Motorsport activity at Blyton dates back to 1954, but the modern circuit took shape after entrepreneur and motorsport enthusiast Richard Usher acquired the airfield in March 2011 and resurfaced the old runways into a roughly one-and-a-half mile asphalt course. Blyton Park Driving Centre opened for business two months later, in May 2011. The circuit is reconfigurable, with the runway network allowing several distinct layouts to be marked out for different vehicles and skill levels. It functions chiefly as a year-round test, tuition and track-day venue rather than a host of major wheel-to-wheel championships. Disciplines catered for include sprinting on the main circuit, rallycross on a mixed asphalt-and-gravel loop, stage rallying against the clock, and autograss on a grass circuit built in 1994. On-site facilities include a heated clubhouse with briefing and dining rooms, an enclosed paddock, showers and camping with mains hook-up. The flat, smooth surface and generous run-off make it a popular venue for media testing, product launches and club events.
