Circuit
The Autódromo Internacional Miguel E. Abed, formerly known as the Autódromo de Amozoc, is a permanent road course and oval complex located near Amozoc, around 30 kilometres east of the city of Puebla in central-southern Mexico. The facility first opened in 1985 as a short road course built by the Promotodo organisation and was later acquired by the Abed family, the same promoters historically associated with the Mexican Grand Prix at the Hermanos Rodríguez circuit. In 1995 the original road course was bulldozed to build an oval, and a complete redevelopment in 2005 added an infield road course together with improved pit, paddock and grandstand facilities. That work brought the venue international attention, hosting the World Touring Car Championship in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009, making it one of the first Mexican circuits to gain an FIA homologation. The infield was reworked again for 2006 to reinstate the oval's banked Turns 1 and 2 and improve run-off and overtaking. In 2021 the circuit unexpectedly returned to the international stage by hosting the Formula E Puebla ePrix, standing in for the Mexico City venue then in use as a COVID-19 hospital, and gained an FIA Grade 3E homologation in that configuration. Today it remains a regular host of the NASCAR Mexico Series and the 24 Hours of Mexico, with its current International Course measuring 3.363 km. The venue offers several configurations, including a short course, an endurance-oriented Resistencia course and the standalone oval.
