The Autódromo Internacional de Brasília is a purpose-built circuit in Brazil's capital, conceived in the early 1970s as a showcase for the young modernist city. Construction began in 1972 to a technical design by engineer Samuel Dias, whose layout wound back and forth within a roughly rectangular oval, and the track was inaugurated in February 1974 with a non-championship Formula One race won by Emerson Fittipaldi. Originally named the Autódromo Emilio Medici, it was later known as the Autódromo de Brasília and, from 1996, the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet. For decades it was a regular host of Stock Car Brasil, Fórmula Truck and F3 Sudamericana, but successive redevelopment plans aimed at attracting Formula One, MotoGP and IndyCar fell through, and the circuit closed in 2014 and fell into disrepair. Under new ownership it was restored and reopened, returning to use for a full programme of events. A reconfigured 5.384 km principal layout brought Stock Car back in 2025, with NASCAR Brasil and Copa Truck slated to follow. The venue is not to be confused with the former circuit of the same Nelson Piquet name in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro.
