Circuit
Atlanta Motorsports Park, usually shortened to AMP, lies just outside Dawsonville, Georgia, set amid the Blue Ridge mountains north of Atlanta and within NASCAR's heartland. The circuit opened in 2013 as a country-club-style venue, the brainchild of businessman and amateur racer Jeremy W. Porter, who envisioned an exclusive facility for car enthusiasts deep in stock-car country. Formula One track architect Hermann Tilke was commissioned to design the layout, making AMP one of the more unusual entries in his portfolio. The full circuit runs 1.835 miles over 16 turns and is notable for old-school crests and dips, with pleasing elevation changes that set it apart from Tilke's flatter modern Grand Prix tracks. Corners said to evoke Spa's Eau Rouge and the Nürburgring's Carousel feature on the lap, while the closing section closely resembles his Motorland Aragon design. The track held its first race in November 2013, hosting the inaugural ChumpCar World Series endurance event for amateur drivers, and it remains popular for club racing and track days, including Mazda Miata fields. The circuit can be reconfigured into several shorter variations, allowing multiple events to run at once. Membership grants guaranteed track time alongside a wide range of resort-style amenities. The venue sits roughly 70 miles north of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
