Circuit
The Anneau du Rhin is a permanent racing circuit located at Biltzheim in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, in north-eastern France, roughly 35 kilometres north of Mulhouse and a short drive from Colmar near the German and Swiss borders. It was planned and built in 1996 by Marc Rinaldi on the site of a former hunting ground, and the family-run venue is today managed by his son Francois Rinaldi. The original competition layout measured 2.919 km, but in 2004 a western loop was added to extend the course, and in August 2011 the track was completely resurfaced and widened by around a metre. The full configuration now runs to 3.621 km with seventeen turns, blending tight technical corners with longer straights that test both car and driver. Holding an FIA grade homologation, it serves primarily as a test, club-sport and track-day venue, and is widely used for driver-training and driving-experience days. It has also welcomed national and international competition, including a round of the FIA World Touring Car Cup in 2022 and several editions of the VW Fun Cup. A dedicated motorcycle configuration has been offered since 2013, extendable to around four kilometres. As the largest circuit in the north-east of France, it has become a key reference point for motorsport in the Alsace region.
