Circuit

The Circuito de Albacete is a publicly owned motorsport facility located near the city of Albacete in the Castilla-La Mancha region of south-eastern Spain. It opened on 14 July 1990 and is managed through the Albacete Circuit Consortium, giving the region a permanent home for racing and testing. The main layout runs to 3.550 km with 14 turns, eight to the right and six to the left, and can be reconfigured into two shorter circuits for different formats. The track rose to international prominence as a host of the Superbike World Championship between 1992 and 1999, establishing its reputation on two wheels. It later staged the FIM Endurance World Championship from 2003 to 2011 and rounds of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. On four wheels it welcomed the World Series by Nissan and the Spanish GT Championship, while the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship made it a regular fixture in the 2010s. The Sidecar World Championship also appeared in 1999 and 2009. A reconfiguration and refurbishment in 2015 updated the layout and facilities, which include grandstand seating for around 7,200 spectators. Today the circuit carves out a useful niche as a venue for Spanish domestic racing, motorcycle championships and testing. Its versatility and central regional location keep it busy across the calendar.
