Circuit
Ahvenisto Race Circuit is a motor racing circuit located in Hämeenlinna, Finland, known for its challenging character. Opened on July 16, 1967, it features significant elevation changes of 32 metres, a narrow width varying between 9 and 17 metres, and a distinctive figure-of-eight crossover layout. Its short run-off areas and numerous fast bends have led some to call it one of Finland's hardest and most dangerous tracks. The main straight is 0.280 km in length. The circuit hosted its first international event, "I Hämeenlinnan ajot 1967," where Jochen Rindt won the Formula Two race. While no further international circuit races have been held, it hosted 18 FIA European Rallycross Championship events between 1980 and 1999 on a modified, mixed-surface version. Today, it primarily hosts national and Nordic championships, including the Finnish Touring Car Championship. The track reached its crowd record in 1985 with over 40,000 spectators for "The Race of Stars."
