About WSBK

The FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) is the premier international motorcycle racing series for production-based superbikes, governed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Established in 1988, the championship was created to showcase modified versions of motorcycles available to the general public, making it more relatable to fans than prototype-based series like MotoGP. The series features races on some of the world's most challenging circuits, from the iconic Phillip Island in Australia to the legendary Imola in Italy. The championship format consists of three races per weekend: two full-length races (typically around 100km each) and a shorter Superpole Race on Sunday morning. Points are awarded on a 25-20-16 scale for the main races, with the Superpole Race offering half points. The series has produced legendary champions including Carl Fogarty, Troy Bayliss, Jonathan Rea (who holds the record with six consecutive titles from 2015-2020), and current multiple champion Álvaro Bautista. WSBK continues to thrive as a global championship, attracting top manufacturers like Ducati, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, and BMW, while providing a platform for riders to showcase their skills on machines closely related to those available in showrooms worldwide.
