About WRC

The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) is the premier global rallying series, organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) since 1973. The championship features purpose-built rally cars competing on closed public roads across diverse terrains including gravel, tarmac, snow, and ice stages spanning multiple days. Each rally consists of special stages timed to the tenth of a second, with crews navigating using pace notes read by co-drivers. The championship awards points to the top 10 finishers in each rally using a 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 system, with additional points available for winning the Power Stage. Legendary champions include Sébastien Loeb (9 consecutive titles, 2004-2012), Sébastien Ogier (7 titles), and Marcus Grönholm, among others. The series visits approximately 13 countries annually, from the Monte Carlo Rally's icy mountain roads to the high-speed gravel stages of Rally Finland. Today's WRC features Rally1 hybrid cars producing around 500 horsepower, representing manufacturers like Toyota, Hyundai, and M-Sport Ford. The championship remains one of motorsport's most demanding disciplines, testing driver skill, co-driver precision, and mechanical reliability across some of the world's most challenging and spectacular driving environments.
