About TCR Europe

The TCR Europe Touring Car Series, often abbreviated as TCR Europe, is a premier regional touring car championship launched in 2018. It operates under the globally successful TCR regulations, which mandate production-based, front-wheel-drive cars powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged engines. Conceived by the WSC Group, the same entity behind the international TCR World Tour concept, TCR Europe quickly established itself as a highly competitive and popular platform for both professional drivers and aspiring talents across the continent. It serves as a significant step on the touring car ladder, attracting strong grids and intense racing action at iconic European circuits. A typical TCR Europe race weekend features two sprint races, preceded by a multi-stage qualifying session. The grid for Race 1 is determined by the final qualifying results, while Race 2 often incorporates a partial reverse-grid for the top qualifiers, ensuring dynamic and unpredictable racing. Points are awarded to the top finishers in each race following a standard FIA-style system (e.g., 25 for the winner, down to 1 for 10th place), with additional points often available for pole position and fastest laps. The series is renowned for its close-quarters racing, with multiple manufacturers represented, including Audi, Honda, Hyundai, CUPRA, and Lynk & Co, all competing on a level playing field thanks to the Balance of Performance (BoP) system. Over its relatively short history, TCR Europe has crowned several notable champions, including Mikel Azcona (2018), Josh Files (2019), and Mehdi Bennani (2020), with many other prominent touring car drivers having competed in the series. The championship is promoted by the WSC Group and sanctioned by the FIA through the respective national sporting authorities of the host countries. It continues to be a vibrant and essential part of the European motorsport landscape, offering thrilling competition and a strong platform for drivers and teams in the TCR category.
