About NLS

The Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), formerly known as the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring until 2020, is a premier motorsport series dedicated to endurance racing on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. With a rich history spanning decades, the series has become a cornerstone of German motorsport, attracting a diverse field of professional teams, amateur racers, and manufacturers. Each event is hosted by a different ADAC club, contributing to the series' unique community spirit and deep roots within the German racing landscape. The NLS typically features 8-9 races per season, predominantly 4-hour events, though some longer races (e.g., 6 hours) are occasionally part of the calendar. The series is renowned for its multi-class structure, allowing a vast array of vehicles, from production-based cars to highly modified GT3 machinery, to compete simultaneously. Points are awarded based on class finishes, with an overall championship for drivers and teams, emphasizing consistency and reliability over the demanding 25.378-kilometer (or 24.358 km for some configurations) combination of the Nordschleife and the short Grand Prix circuit. Winning an NLS overall title or a highly competitive class championship is a significant achievement in endurance racing. The series continues to thrive as a vital proving ground for drivers and manufacturers, often serving as preparation for the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hours. It is governed by the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB) and organized by the Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring e.V. (VLN e.V.), a collective of motorsport clubs. The NLS remains a vibrant and accessible platform for endurance racing, celebrated for its challenging circuit, competitive fields, and passionate fanbase.
