ADAC GT Masters is a GT3 sports car championship founded in 2007 by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation with the backing of Germany's ADAC automobile club, reviving the ground covered by the 1990s ADAC GT Cup. It runs a Pro-Am format: two drivers share each car and every race is built around a mandatory pit stop with a driver change, so amateur and professional stints both count. The grid uses FIA-homologated GT3 machinery kept close through performance balancing, drawing marques such as Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini. The calendar is rooted in Germany — the Nürburgring and Hockenheimring have featured since the early seasons — with selected rounds visiting neighbouring European circuits like the Red Bull Ring, Zandvoort and the Salzburgring.
